Nicola’s Ramblings
At this time of year, I don’t know whether I am Arthur or Martha.
Spring/Summer 2010 is going into store and I am in my final stages of finishing High Summer. It is all a case of “love that and do not like that”. Patterns are being tweaked and turnded inside out. Fabric combinations are being changed and finishes are being finalized. I am very vulnerable. It is like the final dress rehearsal for a performer. Every shortcoming seems huge and one is horribly self-critical.
But you know what – life goes on and as I have said many times, to my terrific and patient team: “we are making frocks, not performing brain surgery”
For me, all collections focus around the fabrics. I love looking at fabric. Give me a cup of coffee, a bag of liquorice allsorts and a desk high of fabric samples and I am in heaven! I love this as much as I do looking at “Wallpaper” magazine and “Elle Decccor Italia”, although my new Vincent Van Duysen’s “Complete Works” is hard to top.
Spring/Summer 2010 has lovely colours, prints and textures. I have tried to find a mix of feminine and architectural edge. I hop you enjoy seeing it, and, even more wearing it.
